Masterson’s Lounge, located in the heart of Moonee Ponds , promotes itself as a chic “hipster” locale , but my most recent experience at this establishment quickly devolved into an unforgettable, terrible experience. While the bar may seem appealing from the exterior , what I discovered behind its walls was appalling and beyond comprehension .

The floors were sticky , and a pungent odor of uncleaned spills and neglected washrooms filled the entire establishment . With a smell of a mixture of human waste, putrefaction and a sickly smell. The counter , which should be the centerpiece of any pub, was piled high with used mugs and litter that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in weeks . The lavatory was in even a truly awful state— spilling over , with a shattered handle and walls covered in what I can only assume was human waste .
